About
Now in my 30's, I have been riding and training horses for over 25 years. I took up riding as a 7 year old and started helping out at my local riding school from 10 years old. After doing my GCSE's and A-Levels, I worked full time and did my BHS exams to become a qualified instructor. Since then I bought a 3 year old PRE x TB gelding, we now compete in affiliated dressage, and have done some one day events, hunter trials, showing and pleasure rides. We also took up Horse Agility competitions in 2016 and came 7th in the world in 2017. I thoroughly enjoy coaching people and horses to improve their understanding and ability, and firmly believe in correct methods of training to produce good quality rather than using quick fix methods for short term benefits.
I also enjoy running horse agility days as this really builds a bond between horse and handler and it is great fun too. |
During my A-Levels I worked at a vets for 2 years, helping care for the animals. I also worked on a livery yard, doing basic yard duties and have worked at another riding school in Sheffield since qualifying as an instructor. These extra things have helped broaden my knowledge. I have also done clinics with the following people: Sylvia Loch, Gillian Higgins, Russell Guire, Guy Robertson, Nicola Wilson and Joe Whitaker. I still have lessons with various people to further my education.
